NONPROFITS NEED A SPECIFIC PROJECT FOR BIG GROWTH
The vast majority of fundraising appeals for conservatives, liberals, Republicans, Democrats, charities, health and welfare, etc., are what I call “cuss” letters. Instead of carefully explaining the problem and identifying your solution to the problem, most nonprofits tell us about the problem and then say, ergo send me money. For example . . .
Democrats are doing bad things, send us money.
Cancer is a terrible disease, send us money.
Heart disease is the number one killer of Americans, send us money.
There’s great poverty in X place, send us money.
Young people are losing their faith in God, send us money.
Your goals, dreams, hopes, wishes, aspirations are not projects.
Yes, donors know there are problems, and they are anxious to help solve the problems, but why should they send your organization a donation rather than another organization that offers an exciting specific solution to the same problem?
